ESNA-CERT...

Your local CERT organization, ESNA-CERT, was formed in the fall of 2004. Members have been trained by the NYC Office of Emergency Management and officers of the NYPD and FDNY, and the organization is promoted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Our goal is to train you, your family and your neighbors in basic emergency response skills. ESNA-CERT members are integrated into the emergency support structure for our area.

If a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the fire, police and emergency services response, ESNA-CERT members can assist others by applying the basic response and organizational skills learned during the 11 week training. These skills can help save lives following a disaster, until emergency personnel arrive.

ESNA-CERT members maintain and refine their skills by participating in exercises and activities. They attend supplemental training opportunities offered by FEMA and OEM.

Finally, ESNA-CERT members can volunteer for projects that improve their community emergency preparedness.
